Overview

How it plays

Burns everything in a zone - and if any of them were already on fire, they detonate. Surcharge is the Pyro school's combo detonator: cast it after Fireball, Wisp, or Firebeam have applied Burning and you turn the DoT stacks into instant burst damage across the entire group.

StrategyAlways pair with a Burning setup spell. Fireball into Surcharge is the classic, but Wisp spreading Burning to a group before you Surcharge is often more efficient. The wider your Burning coverage when Surcharge lands, the more simultaneous detonations you get.

Strengths

  • Detonates Burning enemies for immediate burst damage
  • Wide zone means it catches groups rather than single targets
  • Multiplies the value of every other Pyro spell significantly

Weaknesses

  • Does ordinary burn damage against enemies not already on fire
  • Requires setup - useless as an opener
